Blog #1 ;Solemn Introductions;

-Straight into it-
.Arch1101 Blog #1.

I don't believe this is my best piece of work however it is my first attempt of realistic graphite art after a number of years. Whilst it has many issues in regards to symmetry and shape, I posted it on this blog because  the shading on this piece I  am fairly proud of...emphasis  on 'fairly'.

St.  Peter's Basilica; Catholicism's most sacred shrine, the sumptuous, marble-caked basilica of St Peter's draws pilgrims and tourists from all over the world. It holds hundreds of precious works of  art, some salvaged from the original 4th-century basilica built by Constantine, others commissioned from Renaissance and Baroque artists. The dominant tone is set by Bernini, who created Baldacchino twisting up  below MichelAngelo's huge dome. The basilica is important to me as it a part of my heritage.

A bearded iris, blooming in mid Spring for a very short period of time. I find this interesting due to its complex shape and arrangement of petals, along with its merging of unusual colour whilst highlighting the beauty of nature.
